From the very beginning of its establishment as a specialized cotton textile trader,NISHIZAWA has made strenuous efforts to match the demands from global market. While enjoying a position as forerunner in textile field in our early days, we have constantly spread our handling articles and extent of services to metal products, machineries, vessels and other industrial commodities, investment and technical collaboration or implementation of such national projects as construction of roads, bridges, marine facilities or electric power stations etc., for improvement of infra- structures, some of which are highlighted in this site for better understanding of our activities. NISHIZAWA shall, with its wide and innovative eyes, continue to be an all-round business adviser and a good partner for all the concerned.
The early days.
- 1915
- Mr. Hachisaburo Nishizawa, the founder of NISHIZAWA, establishes NISHIZAWA HACHISABURO SHOTEN as a speicialized cotton printed textile trader in Osaka.
- 1922
- Opens representative office in Shanghai, Dalian, Tianjin and other major cities in China to expand sales of printed fabrics mainly in Chinese market.
- 1931
- Transforms the organization into THE H. NISHIZAWA SHOTEN LIMITED as a joint-stock company.
Opens a representative office in Bangkok (Thailand) and commenced marketing of textile fabrics and other Japan-made products.
Also starts export of textile fabrics to Middle East, Australia, Africa and Central/South American countries.
Post world war 2.
- 1947
- Appointed as an authorized export agent from National Textile Traders Bureau as soon as Japan could have resumed its economic activities after the war.
- 1949
- Changes Japanese trade name of the Company to present NISHIZAWA KABUSHIKI KAISHA.
Opens a representative office in Hong Kong : reorganized under the name of NISHIZAWA (HONG KONG) LIMITED in 1969 as our overseas affiliated company. - 1951
- Establishes a subsidiary company in Osaka for promotion of local wholesale of textile products.
- 1952
- Opens Tokyo Branch Office in the course of aggressive expansion of business activities to capital areas of Japan.
- 1958
- Opens a representative office in New York (U.S.A.) : reorganized in 1966 as OBR INC., incorporated in U.S.A. which traces the root of our overseas affiliated company, NISHIZAWA (U.S.A.) LIMITED in Los Angels.
Acquires sole distributorship of electric home appliances for East & West Africa from HITACHI LIMITED and opens a large showroom in Mombasa (Kenya), the neon-lit first modern shop in Africa that time.
Opens a representative office in Lagos (Nigeria).
The days of expansion.
- 1961
- Sets up a large blanket manufacturing factory in Kano (Nigeria) under joint venture with local capitals, which was the first Japanese private-sector investment in West Africa.(1999 Sold to the local capitals)
- 1962
- Awarded the Blue Ribbon Medal from the prime minister at the first Highest Export Convention in recognition of our eminent contribution for Japan's export promotion.
- 1965
- Sets up a marvelous integrated mill for textile printing in Lagos (Nigeria), under joint venture with local capitals.(2002 Sold to the local capitals)
Opens a representative office in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). - 1968
- Sets up a cable manufacturing mill in Kampala (Uganda) under joint venture with local capitals.
- 1969
- Changes English trade name from THE H. NISHIZAWA SHOTEN LIMITED to current NISHIZAWA LIMITED.
Establishes a local subsidiary company at Shijonawate (Osaka) and started the management of sports and amusement center. - 1974
- Obtains an order for passenger/cargo ship from Zanzibar Government (Tanzania).
Also amusement parks are constructed in Zanzibar and Pemba (both in Tanzania) under our technical collaboration and plant supply. - 1976
- Opens a representative office in Dubai (U.A.E.) : reorganized as a foreign branch office with the trade license rendered from Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority in 1989.
- 1979
- Opens a representative office in Bourges (France).
- 1980
- Obtains an contract for supply of rice to Sierra Leone by Yen credit from the Government of Japan.
Obtains an contract for supply of a passenger ship and a tanker to the Government of Tanzania by Yen credit from the Government of Japan.
The days for social contribution.
- 1982
- Receives an order for Rural Electrification Project, in Kilimanjaro Region from the Government of Tanzania under Yen credit from the Government of Japan.
- 1983
- Receives an order for erection and fountains in 10 different spots in Aden (Yemen) from the Municipality of Aden.
- 1984
- Establishes a local subsidiary company in Osaka and started the management of real estate and insurance agency.
- 1985
- Opens a representative office in Shanghai (China)
- 1986
- Opens a representative office in Accra (Ghana)
- 1989
- Participates in construction of a five-star hotel in Shanghai (China) in cooperation with Japanese main constructors.
- 1990
- Obtains a order for Rural Electrification Project for construction of power Sub-stations and distribution lines in 3 rural districts from the Government of Ghana, financed by the Government of Japan under Grant Aid.
- 1992
- Opens representative office in Lilongwe (Malawi)
- 1994
- Wins the Minster of International Trade & Industry Award for Contribution to Trade (Import) in recognition of our eminent contribution for Japan's import promotion.
- 1995
- Participates in development of Industrial Zone newly designed in northern part of Hanoi (Vietnam) by supply of construction materials.
- 1996
- Opens a representative office in Maputo (Mozambique).
Obtains an order for construction of Sub-stations, transmission and distribution lines in 2 rural districts from the Government of Ghana as the 2nd phase financed by the Government of Japan under Grant Aid. - 1997
- Obtains an order for construction of Sub-stations and distribution lines in Dar es Salaam from the Government of Tanzania, financed by the Government of Japan under Grant Aid.
- 2002
- Establishes Nishizawa (Shanghai) Trading Co.,Ltd., our newest overseas affiliated company, in Shanghai (China).
Sets up a sport dome at Shijonawate(Osaka) to meet the local demand for sport and leisure industries. - 2005
- Engages in the first opening DAISO shop in a Middle Eastern Oman.
Holds th 90th anniversary foundation event grandly.
Excutes special dividend. - 2008
- Obtains orders for Rural Electrificaion Project from the Government of Uganda as the 2nd phase and for Rural Electrificaion Project from the Government of Ghana, financed by the Government of Japan under Grant Aid.
- 2009
- Obtains an order for Improvement of Water Supply Facilities Project in Darkhan city from the Government of Mongolia, financed by the Government of Japan under Grant Aid.
- 2010
- Engages in the second opening DAISO shop in a Middle Eastern Oman.
- 2011
- Installs, operates, and completes Making Line for ERW Carbon Steel Pipe of the biggest diameter in West African countries.
- 2012
- Engages in the third opening DAISO shop in a Middle Eastern Oman.
Obtains an order of the Project for Improvement of Substations and Distribution Network from the Government of Rwanda, financed by the Government of Japan.under Grant Aid.
Opens a representative office in Yangon (Myanmar) - 2013
- Sets up import wholesale business and starts a business activity in Yangon through J.V.Company of Myanmar local company & NISHIZAWA (HONG KONG) LIMITED.
- 2014
- Sets up Sanno Vega Co.,Ltd. in Taiwan under joint venture with local capitals and Japanese maker.
- 2015
- Celebrates 100th anniversary and holds memorial event grandly. Excutes special dividend.
- 2017
- Engages in the first opening MOROZOFF shop in Singapore.
- 2020
- Establishes NISHIZAWA LIMITED SOUTH AFRICA (PTY) LTD in Nelspruit (South Africa).
